Following a Canadian research project into the benefits of upper limb exercise for women following breast surgery, dragon boating has become an important and fun part of many survivors’ recreation and personal support network. Dragons Abreast Australia is a national organisation offering breast cancer survivors the chance to participate in the sport of dragon boating, providing women with exercise, fun and support. There are dragon boat clubs throughout Australia. See their website for a list of locations.

Dreams2live4 helps make dreams come true for patients who are living with metastatic cancer. Our dreamers have had the devastating diagnosis of cancer, followed by the gut wrenching news that it has returned. Living with metastatic cancer can be an overwhelming and gruelling battle. Dreams2live4 empowers these patients to dream and find purpose again.

Cancer Council Queensland ESA Wig and Turban Service aims to assist individuals with the side-effects of hair loss as a result of their cancer treatment, through the provision of wig loans and turbans, at no cost.

Headwear and wig library - Peter Mac

Victoria

Peter Mac’s wig library and headwear service which issues about 20,000 pieces of headwear to patients each year.

The headwear and wig library is also an important part of the Look Good Feel Better program, held regularly at Peter Mac’s Melbourne site.

Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation

The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation is a Hunter based and founded not-for-profit organisation established to provide information and support for women with breast cancer and their families.

The Foundation’s primary role is to offer women and men; newly diagnosed; during treatment and post treatment, practical day-to-day ‘grass roots’ supportive care and psychological support.

McGrath Foundation

The McGrath Foundation’s mission is to ensure that Australian families experiencing breast cancer have access to a breast care nurse no matter where they live or their financial situation. More than 100 breast care nurses have been placed in communities across Australia. The McGrath Foundation also takes on an educative role, working to raise breast awareness among young women.

The McGrath Foundation was established in 2005 by Jane and Glenn McGrath and is located in Sydney.

National Breast Cancer Foundation

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is the only national body that funds life-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. Breast cancer is the most common life-threatening cancer facing Australian women, with eight women dying from the disease each day — mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and friends.

Research is the only way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. By funding only world-class research, NBCF is working towards a goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

NTBCV aims to promote Breast Cancer awareness, continue to advocate for the improvement of services and conditions for all Territorians diagnosed with Breast Cancer and to promote health and wellbeing through our 10,000 steps programme and our social support groups.

Peninsula Community Wig Centre

Established in 2008 by Peninsula Private Hospital and Beleura Private Hospital, the Peninsula Community Wig Centre is a free community service available to anyone living on the Mornington Peninsula experiencing hair loss due to treatment for cancer.

The service is run by dedicated volunteers many of whom are trained hairdressers. There are a variety of wigs and scarves available on loan to clients and over 1000 wigs have been loaned since opening.

YWCA Encore Program
A post-surgery exercise & recovery program

In partnership with YWCA-Encore, the Foundation supports the delivery of Encore, a free 8-week program for women who have experienced breast cancer. Encore lowers the risk of lymphoedema and helps restore strength, mobility, self-confidence and general well-being. Our partnership aims to see more programs running more frequently, especially in rural and remote areas of Australia.

Established in 1995, the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit, charity organisation which is 100% self-funded. We support breast cancer patients and their families from diagnosis, through treatment and during recovery.

The Foundation raises funds for the Breast Unit at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.

The Otis Foundation

The OTIS Foundation provides retreat accommodation at no cost for anyone dealing with the challenges of breast cancer. We currently have retreats in Victoria, NSW, South Australia, Queensland and NT that provide time out to relax, reconnect and regroup. Friends, family and partners are also welcome.

The Wig Service

New South Wales

The Wig Service is a highly individualised service run by talented and dedicated volunteers, including a hairdresser, who have many years of experience in wig fitting.

Our team provide a personalised wig fitting service for Calvary Mater Newcastle patients who lose their hair through cancer treatment. Our friendly volunteers will help you choose a flattering wig, fit it correctly and provide advice on wig maintenance and care.

Wig Service - Cancer Council

Our Wig Service offers people undergoing cancer treatment who can't afford a wig the chance to come in and be fitted with a free synthetic wig.
